Hello, my name’s Bruce Smart and I’m a biker-holic.
Way back in 2008 I lost my mum to cancer, but before she passed she said to me, “Live your life, look after those you love, but live your life.” I promised her there and then I’d live out my dream to ride a motorbike around the world and TeapotOne was born.
After almost 3 years hard work and preparation, (you can read about all the planning, starting here) on the 1st October 2012 I set off from the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London to ride my trusty Suzuki GSX-R1000 on a journey that was set to take me 18 months to travel 100,000 miles around the world, through over 80 countries. You can view the original route here. (http://teapotone-com.trans4.solutions/site/route/)
After 7 weeks I’d traveled over 9,000 miles through 14 countries, but as I made my way across the Sahara desert in Mauritania – West Africa, my dream became a nightmare and the trip came to an end.
Thanks to Delta Energy Services (www.des-global.com) I was given a lifeline to re-ignite my dream. On the 9th May 2013 I left once again to ride my bike around the world. This time leaving out Africa and the Middle East, but never say never 😉
The trip takes in about 53 countries over an approximate 14 month period. As before I’ll be documenting the whole trip here on the site, with a heavy emphasis on the social media so you can interact with each journey, suggest places to go and see, things to do, or even come and meet me along any part of the trip.
As before you’ll be able to track my progress on the site by monitoring the ‘Track Me‘ page. (This won’t be live until I leave on the 9th May 2013).
Along the way I aim to raise as much as possible for my chosen charities, so if you’re feeling generous please donate here.
Follow on facebook, twitter and YouTube to be part of the adventure.
Enjoy.
Bruce
