GARMIN on board to sponsor TeapotOne
TeapotOne is pleased to announce Garmin as corporate sponsor for the project.
Garmin, the world’s leading mobile navigation technology company, will be supplying Bruce Smart with a Zumo 600, a Scala Headset and mapping data to guide him on his 100,000 miles all terrain around the world trip on a sports motorbike for charity.
Bruce says: “The TeapotOne journey will take in over 72 countries and almost 100,000 miles, covering almost every continent on earth. As I’m travelling without any accompanying support crew, it would be impossible to carry the maps required to navigate my way through the journey. Having Garmin onboard means I have the whole world conveniently located at my fingertips and the peace of mind knowing I’ll know exactly where I am at any point of the trip. With Garmin’s ‘connect’ portal, I’ll also be able to share my route with people all over the world making the project truly interactive”
Garmin is a global manufacturer of in-car sat navigation, portable navigation devices, handheld GPS units, and GPS products for the marine, aviation, outdoor and fitness sectors.
Claire Haigh, Garmin’s PR Manager and Technical Copywriter, says: “Garmin is pleased to be supporting the Teapot One around-the-world charity motorbike ride. Garmin’s zūmo sat navs are well known and trusted by motorbikers – and we hope a zūmo 660 will help Bruce navigate safely wherever he goes. We are sure it will be an exciting as well as an exhausting adventure. We look forward to seeing Bruce’s progress online at Garmin Connect, but most of all we hope the project achieves its aim of raising considerable funds for its chosen charities.”
Bruce is supporting St Christopher’s Hospice, the cancer hospice that cared for Bruce’s mother Maggie Smart who died in 2008, the Born Free Foundation, the British Legion and the Children’s Trust.
Donations can be made directly to each of the charities through the TeapotOne website. For more information please visit his website: www.teapotone.com
END.
