HESA Fun Day 30th May 2011
Bank Holiday Monday 30th May 2011 see’s TeapotOne attend yet another event in our busy calendar. The Herts & Essex Shooting Association (HESA) have kindly invited us to their Fun Day Out, where all proceeds raised during the day will be given to the TeapotOne charities!
HESA will be holding an open day on Monday 30th May. (Pre-registration is required prior to event. Please call 0791 928 3546 and speak to Julie McCarthy) The public can come see the club and try their hand at shooting. Below is a list of what will be going on during the event:
Shotgun Shooting: Many shooters use shotguns for the purpose of shooting artificial targets to practice marksmanship or in competition. Clay target shooting is currently experiencing a boom in popularity in the UK, spurred on by British competitors success in competitions such as the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.
HESA will have the clay range open and encourage anyone who would like to try their hand at Clay target shooting to give it a go. Expert one to one tuition will be available.
Rifle Shooting: Target rifle shooting grew out of the need for the armed services to improve and maintain high standards of marksmanship. Today it is a major international sport, enjoyed by thousands of participants across the UK. Fullbore target rifle shooters use large calibre firearms and fire from a prone position at ranges from 100 to 1,000 yards or more. Smallbore rifle shooters use the smaller .22 rimfire cartridge at ranges up to 100 yards. Due to the lower power of these guns they are particularly suited to indoor ranges. Herts & Essex Shooting Association will be opening the doors of their 25 meter indoor range to the public so that everyone attending the open day will be able to try out a number of smallbore disciplines, including: benchrest, gallery and practical minirifle
Airgun Shooting: Airgun shooting is a thriving sport across the UK with many clubs providing indoor and outdoor ranges dedicated to this discipline. Herts & Essex Shooting Association’s airgun section frequently shares the indoor range with the smallbore rifle members and even has a dedicated evening for their airgun enthusiasts. Anyone wanting to get an introduction to airgun shooting will be able to do so on the open day.
In addition to being able to experience the different shooting disciplines, Herts and Essex Shooting Association will be hosting a number of other events, including:
Essex Police: Personnel from Essex Police’s Firearms, Shotgun and Explosives Licensing Department will be on hand to offer help and advice on all matters relating to firearms and airguns and their safe use.
Shooting Exhibition: The club house will play host to a large exhibition of firearms of all types and calibres. There are also planned demonstrations of old black powder muzzle loading rifles and a turkey shoot to take part in, (no real turkeys).
Refreshments: There will be hot and cold refreshments and food available on the day.
The Herts & Essex Shooting Association Open Day is guaranteed to be an excellent day out for all the family with something for everyone. Last year they won the National Shooting Week award for best open day, this year they plan on bettering it !!! Definitely not to be missed.
