TeapotOne raise £207.41 for St Christopher’s Hospice through Motor Sport at the Palace
Another successful event for TeapotOne saw us attend the Motor Sports at the Palace show at Crystal Palace, in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice.
The event, held this year on Sunday & Monday the 29th & 30th May 2011, see’s a revival of the old Grand Prix circuit based in the grounds of the palace. It is apparently the oldest, and allegedly the first, grand prix circuit in the world and has laid unused for decades until some enthusiasts decided to revive this South East London gem.
2010 saw the first Motor Sports at the Palace event take place and this was such a success that it has now become an annual event. The 2011 show was sponsored by local Nissan dealer ‘Ancaster’ and was a very impressive affair with an array of cars, from vintage to hyper, on display. The Brooklands Motorbike Museum was also on hand demonstrating their glorious machines for all to see. A wealth of other stalls and events were on display for the publics pleasure.
TeapotOne was no different as we descended onto the palace and set up our dapper stall, as provided by Tam Leisure, New Malden Ltd. With the bike on display it proved to be quite an attraction as folks flocked around, eager to get their picture taken on the bike (all for a small donation of course!) that will take Bruce around the world.
There was a wealth of support and knowledge on tap as fellow overlanders offered their advice and tips to Bruce for his journey ahead. The crowds marvelled over the map of the route, digesting each of the 100,000 plus miles with awe and wonder.
The TeapotOne t-shirts, as provided by Teasdale Group Limited, flew off the shelves, and our “I Support TeapotOne” stickers were a huge success, cropping up in all sorts of unusual places! Keep an eye out for some near you, or send us a picture of the most unusual place you can get one.
Stickers are available for a small donation through any/all of the just giving pages for our charities. Send us a message with your address and we’ll send you some stickers. Post them wherever you want, take a pic and send it to us!
At the close of play the incredibly generous people of South East London donated a whopping £207.41 to the St Christopher’s Hospice through TeapotOne. We can’t thank you guys enough, but be rest assured we are very, very grateful to you for your support. The funds have now been transferred to St Christopher’s via their Just Giving page so you can click their widget over on the right side-bar of this website, and see how your contribution is helping us reach our massive £250,000 target for each charity.
Thanks to Becky and the team at St Christopher’s for inviting us to the day, can’t wait for next year, and we’ll see you all at the next event!
