Next Event – RBLR1000 Sat 18th June 2011
TeapotOne is entering the 2011 Royal British Legion Riders Branch RBLR1000.
This is an annual event first organised by the Riders Branch in October 2008. The Royal British Legion Riders (RBLR) Branch came up with the idea to try to break the world record for the largest amount of riders to complete 1000 miles in less than 24 hours.
The inaugural event took place from Squires Cafe near Leeds on Saturday 20th June 2009. The 1000 miles covered either a Northern Route into Scotland or a Southern Route to take in the West Country. In total the event had 171 finishers which 162 riders and 9 pillions, which would have smashed the world record if the Americans hadn't pipped us to the post first. However the event did break both the European and UK records and so far has raised over £33,000 for the Poppy Appeal.
In 2011 Bruce will be taking on the Northern route as show above. Starting at Squires Cafe in Leeds at 0530hrs on Saturday 18th June, he’ll attempt to ride the full 1,000 miles within 24hrs, riding all the way up to John’O’Groats and back! He’s then got to ride all the way back down to Dorking to get to Rykas cafe on Sunday 19th for our next event!
A minimum £50 had to be raised in order to enter which was quickly reached within 2hrs of posting on the site. Thank you so much to Duncan Hutchison and Christine Watts for their incredibly kind donations.
Can we ask that all other donations are directed towards the TeapotOne ‘Donate’ page please, even those to the Royal British Legion. That way we can easily keep track of our progress towards the magical £1,000,000 target for the whole TeapotOne project.
Bruce shall be filming the whole RBLR1000 event so keep an eye out for the video blog on its’ completion.
Scotland in June, hopefully it won’t snow?
