Land Rover London to Brighton 2011
Sunday 2nd October 2011 saw us arrive down at Brighton as guests of Born Free for the Land Rover 2011 London to Brighton rally.
Started by the South London and Surrey Land Rover club in 1989, the annual event has gone from strength to strength ever since. The starting point is at Crystal Palace in London with participants driving in one large convoy all the way to Madeira Drive next to Brighton pier.
With numbers in the high hundreds, if not thousands, the participants started arriving at about 0930hrs and didn't stop coming until after lunch!
The crowds took full advantage of the incredible weather we've been experiencing, and the numbers swelled all through the afternoon.
We shared a stall with Joanne from the Born free Foundation, who had kindly invited us along as their guests. Interest in TeapotOne was high as people stopped to chat with us about the journey ahead, some with advice on where to go, what roads and kit to take, but almost all with the same question. "Why the hell are you taking a sportsbike!" This is becoming a regular remark, and I like it 😉
